SASSA Older Persons Grant Payment Dates 2023
The next payment date for the Older Persons Grant (the old age pension grant) will be on Friday, 2 June 2023. If you have any other grants linked to your account, they will also be paid on the same day.

Of all the SASSA grant, the Old Age Grant is always paid first. Payments usually start on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th day of the month. SASSA payments are only made on weekdays and not weekends.
Please remember that you do NOT have to withdraw your money on the exact payment date – the money will remain in your account until you need it. It may be best to wait a few days before withdrawing your money to avoid standing in long queues.
How much is the Older Persons Grant?
The current pension amount is R2 080 per person, per month (if you are below 75 years old) and R2 100 per person, per month (if you are over 75 years old). The amount will be revised again in October 2023.

How will I know if my Older Persons Grant is approved?
Please note that it may take SASSA up to 3 months to assess your application and provide you with an outcome. If your application gets declined (but you definitely meet all the criteria), you are encouraged to appeal to the national Department of Social Development within 90 days of being rejected.
