SASSA Payment Glitch Update – Grants Now Available

Yesterday (5 September 2023), SASSA released a statement that Postbank was experiencing technical challenges affecting SASSA social grant payments – this left many elderly people stranded and without money to buy food as the Old Age Grant was due to be paid on the day.

SASSA has since released another statement, informing recipients that Postbank has fully restored ATM transactions access for SASSA grants payments.

Now that Postbank has remedied their technical issues, SASSA grant recipients may withdraw their funds from ATM’s, selected retailers and Post Office branches.

Postbank has advised clients that attempted to withdraw their funds yesterday, to give the process some time before attempting to make another withdrawal. They expect funds to be reversed into beneficiaries accounts within the next 24 hours.

It is unclear what caused this problem, but grant recipients should now be able to access their money as grants are due to be paid this week.
