SASSA Grant recipients payment delay for December 2022

Social grant beneficiaries who use SASSA gold cards/ Postbank will, unfortunately, be unable to withdraw their funds at ATMs for December 2022. SASSA released a statement that the shutdown was due to a discovery of criminal actions targeted at Postbank ATMs to access Postbank accounts. Instead, grant recipients may withdraw their funds at retail merchants, including Shoprite, Usave, Checkers, Pick n Pay, and Boxer.

There is some hope as SASSA assures its beneficiaries that they can still use their Gold Cards to make purchases anywhere that accepts bank card transactions (this is because Gold Cards operate the same as bank cards.) SASSA has also stated that Gold Cards remain valid and have not expired and that Postbank will notify the beneficiaries when the ATM transactions will be available again.
