SASSA Grant Increases for 2023 & 2024 – New Grant amounts from 1 October 2023

In the 2023 budget speech (held on 22 February 2023), the Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana announced that the South Africa government would allocate additional funding to the sum of R227 billion, over the medium term.
Of this budget, R66 billion will be allocated to Social Development over the medium term, with R36 billion being allocated to fund the extension of the COVID-19 SRD, until 31 March 2024.
The Finance Minister announced that R30 billion will be used for inflation-linked increases for other social grants, which means SASSA grant recipients will receive the following amounts:
(Note: there is an increase on 1 April and 1 October each year).
- The Older Persons Grant (old age pension) will increase to:
- R2090 on 1 October 2023, for recipients between 60 and 74 years old (an increase of R10 from the previous amount of R2080).
- R2110 on 1 October 2023, for recipients between over 75 years old (an increase of R10 from the previous amount of R2100).
- The Disability Grant will increase to R2090 on 1 October 2023, (an increase of R10 from the previous amount of R2080)..
- The Child Support Grant will increase to R510 on 1 October 2023, (an increase of R10 from the previous amount of R500).
- The Child Support Grant Top-Up will remain at R250 on 1 October 2023, (no increase).
- The Foster Child Grant will increase to R1130 on 1 October 2023, (an increase of R10 from the previous amount of R1120).
- The Care Dependency Grant will increase to R2090 on 1 October 2023, (an increase of R10 from the previous amount of R2080).
- The War Veterans Grant will increase to R2110 on 1 October 2023, (an increase of R10 from the previous amount of R2100).
- The Grant-In-Aid will increase to R510 on 1 October 2023, (an increase of R10 from the previous amount of R500).
