How do I Reinstate my SRD Grant Application after Cancelling it?
The SASSA SRD grant has been extended to 31 March 2024, as confirmed in the 2023 budget speech by Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, on 22 February 2023.
If you were previously receiving the SRD R350 but your application was cancelled, you can apply to have your application reinstated (as long as you meet the criteria for the Covid-19 SRD grant).
Carry on reading as we provide you with details on how to reinstate your SRD grant application and remind you what the criteria are to apply.

Step-by-step instructions on how to reinstate your Covid-19 SRD grant:
1) First visit the SASSA SRD Reinstate Tab
2) Type in your ID number and phone number you used to apply
3) Click on the “send pin” button
4) You will now receive an SMS to your phone with an OTP number
5) Enter your OTP number and click “verify”
6) Select the reason you would like to reinstate your application (reasons include: “cancelled in error”, “no longer have income” or “other”)
7) You will now see a message that says “are you sure you wan to reinstate the grant?”
8) If you are sure, click “yes” to complete the reinstatement process
Please note that your SRD grant application will only be reinstated if you meet the criteria of this grant, which are:
- You must reside within South Africa
- You must meet any 1 of these criteria:
- You must be a South African Citizen
- You must be a Refugee in South Africa
- You must be an Asylum Seeker in South Africa
- You must be a Special Permit Holder in South Africa
- You must be between 18 and 60 years old
- You must meet the means test, with a income of R624 or less per month
- You must be unemployed and NOT be receiving financial support from any other source
- You must have insufficient financial means to support yourself
- You must NOT be receiving any other social grants
- You must NOT be contributing towards or eligible for UIF payment
- You must NOT be receiving a stipend from NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme)
